Scientific Name: Tursiops
Range: Global; in tropical and temperate oceans
Habitat: Variety of habitats; open ocean, coastal waters, bays, estuaries and harbors
Diet: Fish, squid, and crustaceans
Size: 6-13 ft (1.8- 4 m)
Fun Fact: Bottlenose dolphins, like all cetaceans, need to be awake to move to the surface and breathe. When they sleep, one side of their brain stays awake while the other side shuts down to rest.
