Get ready for an exciting science-meets-pop-culture adventure at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium! In celebration of World Ocean Day weekend, we’re teaming up with the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology and Cosplay for Science (C4S) for a fun and educational event inspired by the world of Pokémon.
Join CMA educators dressed as Pokémon trainers as we explore the Science of Water-Type Pokémon! Learn how many of your favorite Pokémon were inspired by real marine animals you can find in Southern California.
What to Expect:
- A Cosplay for Science table featuring ocean-themed Pokémon science connections
- A scavenger hunt around the Aquarium to discover the real animals that inspired some of the 1,000+ Pokémon
- Fun Pokémon photo cutouts placed next to their real-life counterparts
- Limited-edition CMA Pokémon-style cards to collect along your journey
Our event ties into the global Pokémon GO World Ocean Day campaign, where fans clean up beaches and explore their local environments. Since we’re hosting a beach cleanup on June 7, it’s the perfect day to celebrate the ocean, marine science, and Pokémon.
This event is open to all visitors and families — whether you're a marine life enthusiast, Pokémon fan, or both, this is a great day to visit CMA! No registration is required.
