Gray Whale

Scientific Name: Eschrichtius robustus
Range: Eastern and western North Pacific Ocean
Habitat: Shallow coastal waters
Diet: Primarily benthic crustaceans, such as amphipods; opportunistically will feed on a wide variety of small prey.
Size: Up to 50 ft (15.1 m)
Fun Fact: Gray whales hold the record for one of the longest annual migrations for mammals–up to 14,000 miles (22,500km)–round trip from their Arctic feeding areas to the warm waters of Mexico. 
IUCN Conservation Status: Least concern, however the eastern pacific population recently suffered a steep decline of up to 46% due to lack of prey in their feeding grounds; fortunately they are starting to show signs of recovery.
