Range: Monterey Bay, California, to Magdalena Bay, Baja California
Habitat: Rocky reefs and kelp beds
Diet: Invertebrates, fish and algae
Size: 1-2 ft (12-24 in) in length
Fun Fact: As the spiny lobster grows, it loses its hard exoskeleton in a process known as molting. At this stage it is soft-shelled and vulnerable to predators for about two days until a new skeleton can grow.
